linksys wmp54gs not working in ubuntu 11.4

Asked by Joel Dwy

Just installed ubuntu as a second os option. Installed to same drive as windows xp install. Linksys wmp54gs not working. Under the wireless icon on the top tray it says firmware not installed. Have tried to install ndiswrapper from ubuntu software and cd based on other help I have seen. But I don't see it in software list under installed. Can not find usable drivers on net. Currently no working connection on that comp. Any help? Thanks.

With a wired connection, install the package b43-fwcutter and accept the offer to download the Broadcom files (firmware).
If you haven't activated the non-functional (in 11.04) Broadcom STA driver, networkmanager should immediately start showing nearby access points. If you unfortunately did "activate" the STA driver, then deactivate it, and make sure the file /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-b43.conf is not present (and the line blacklist b43 is not present in any file.

Can you help with this problem?
