Can it detect available ESSID's? Try deleting the configured ESSID name then re-connect from it again.

*If it does not still work, try changing the wireless password key of your configured ESSID on your WiFi AP*

Or you can try visiting Administrator->Additional Drivers if it can detect and install drivers for your wireless LAN card.

From a wired connection, install the b43-fwcutter package and accept the offer to download the Broadcom files. This should put the firmware files into the directory /lib/firmware/b43. If you still have the 10.10 installation around, you could just manually create the directory and copy the files in (recreate the same owner and permissions too).

@Ubfan, tried installing the package and got it but there was no offer to download broadcom files... Anything I may have missed? THanks.

The download offer only occurs the first time the package is installed, so try to completely remove the package and
try again to install (with a wired connection),
sudo apt-get purge b43-fwcutter
sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter

And don't forget to install the firmware installer:

sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer

HTH.

Thanks to Ubfan and Ian Ace below is what I did
From Synaptic package manager I completely removed b43-fwcutter and installed b43-fwcutter.
Then from Terminal I typed sudo apt-get install b43-fwcutter firmware-b43-installer, entered my password. Then clicked yes to some question.
