Wireless not working on ASUS laptop PR031F

Asked by TonyR

Loaded Ubuntu 10.10 on my ASUS PR031F but could not get a wireless connection after providing the SSID and WPA2 password. The wireless access point was configured with MAC address access control but this laptop was connecting for several years running XP with its existing MAC address so I figured that it would work OK with Ubuntu once I gave the password.

Here is my system output:

Try with no encryption just to test. Not all adapters can connect to WPA2 under Linux

Hi

The command string suggested by the forum which generated the output i posted also resolved the problem as the wireless workred when I did a hard power down and restart using WPA2 encryption.

I note the commands suggested brought down some updates which appeared to resolve the issue which can now be closed.
