ubuntu support for usb data transfer cable

I have just purchased a Dell1720 laptop,when it arrives ,I will no doubt install Natty.Since my desktop is running Natty,I would like to know whether or not Natty supports PC-to-PC usb data transfer cable? Visiting Amazon.com I see there is a great deal of support for all flavors of Windows and Mac but nothing on Linux.

If you grab a crossover ethernet cable you can do it much easier as the technology is already in place
