Do you have a shortcut combination or switch to enable / disable wifi? If so press it and rerun:

rfkill list

If it is still blocked, try:

sudo rfkill unblock all; sleep 3; sudo iwlist scan

Do you find wireless access points?

rfkill list [again]

Like I said, I ran the commands before & after pressing the shortcut combo "Fn+F5".

Note: I am running Windows 7 and Ubuntu 11.04 dual boot on the machine.

In Windows be sure to set the device to not have be in power saving mode and also disable its ability to wake the PC up. This can affect other OSes
