Wireless Connection Issues

Asked by Joe Nash

Just installed ubuntu 10.10 onto my system at home and i cannot connect to my wireless router which is a bt home hub. i am new to linux so i went onto the help site and it said i should install ndiswrapper common, nidswrapper utils and finally ndisgtk. i was told this would help me install a driver for my Belkin Wireless G USB device. the chipset is the rt2750 i believe. i have gone ahead and done this and it still wont connect. the router is secured by a WPA key which i have entered and it still wont connect. the funny thing is, is that my next door neighbor's wireless router is a belkin model and it will connect to them with no troubles. is there anything that i am doing wrong that you can help me with please?

Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble connecting to your wireless router after installing Ubuntu 10.10 on your system. It sounds like you've done some troubleshooting already by following the steps provided on the Ubuntu help site, including installing ndiswrapper and the necessary utilities to get your Belkin Wireless G USB device working.

However, it's possible that there might still be some issues preventing you from connecting to your BT Home Hub router. One thing to check is whether you have entered the correct WPA key for your network - it's easy to mistype the key or accidentally include extra spaces or characters, which can prevent your device from connecting.

If you've double-checked the WPA key and confirmed that it's correct, you might also want to try resetting your router and/or your wireless adapter to see if that resolves the issue. Sometimes, network settings can become corrupted or outdated, and a reset can help to clear things up.

Finally, it's worth noting that different routers and wireless devices can have varying levels of compatibility with different operating systems and drivers. It's possible that your Belkin device might simply not be fully compatible with Ubuntu 10.10 or the specific driver you're using, which could explain why you're having trouble connecting to your BT Home Hub router but not your neighbor's Belkin router.

I hope these suggestions help, and please feel free to let me know if you have any further questions or concerns! You can also Check : https://garagedoorrepairhighlandsprings.net/garage-door-spring-repair/
