rtl819xU:FirmwareRequest92S(): failed with TCR-Status: a -> rtl819xU:ERR!!! _rtl8192_up(): initialization is failed! -> Bus 005 Device 002: ID 050d:815f Belkin Components F5D8053 N Wireless USB Adapter v6000 [Realtek RTL8192SU] -> Belkin f5d8053 wireless usb adapter not working on Ubuntu 10.10 using the r8192s_usb driver due to missing firmware
I have a Belkin f5d8053 N wireless USB adapter that will not work.
I typed in lsusb into terminal and it shows that it IS bieng recognized it is just not working.
I have tried using WineHQ to run the .exe file from the installation disk but it ultimately did not work. It would install the files necessary for it to work and then prompt me to insert the device. when it was it still did not register it was there.
I have also tried using ndiswrapper ndisgtk and such with the .inf file and it again did not work.
I have also tried the rt2870 method wihich also did not work due to some errors along the way. it would not recognize that I had extracted that file and would not extract it from terminal.
i've also installed the driver from the belkin website but that doesn't work either.
I've tried wrestling with the make file but they would not work.
i've installed the apt-get install builld header thingy. I don't know what to do I'm losing my mind the light is supossed to blink blue and it's not :(
I do not know what further information might be needed ..but please help.

The EXE is a Windows file, Ubuntu is not Windows, it is a distribution of Linux.
Can you give the output of:
lsusb; sudo lshw -C network
We need to know the CHIP in the device which is currently not known. Belkin do not make chips, they buy them from Atheros and Broadcom and make adapters so telling us the make and model isn't as useful as you think

Hi,
Please first connect your wired network adapter to the wireless router using an ethernet cable (also known as a LAN cable).
In order to gather essential troubleshooting information about your wireless card, please follow this procedure:
Step 1: Open Terminal from "Applications-
Step 2: Please copy-paste the following command from the https:/
Tip: If you have a wheel mouse or 3 button mouse you do not need to type commands into the Terminal. Highlight the command written on the page. Move your cursor anywhere in the Terminal and press the wheel or middle button. Automatic Copy and paste! No spelling mistakes! No Typos! No other errors!
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install hwinfo grep; sudo lshw -C network; rfkill list; sudo iwlist scanning; cat /etc/network/
Step 3: Please post results (copy/paste terminal output) on this thread. The troubleshooters here need to see the full Terminal output from running the above command.
Regards,
Mark

First you will need to blacklist the ndiswrapper kernel module, as you do not need it.
Please try the following procedure to try to rectify this situation:
Step 1) Open Terminal from "Applications-
Step 2) Please copy-paste the following 3 commands into the Linux Terminal. Press <enter> after each command.
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get remove ndiswrapper-common ndisgtk ndiswrapper-
echo -e "blacklist ndiswrapper" | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.
=======
After blacklisting ndiswrapper, please follow the procedure from chili555 at the following location:
http://
It is based on the following procedure:
