Need a dial up modem that is compatible with Ubuntu 10.10.

Asked by Edwin Nielsen

Anybody know what brand/model of dial up modems that would be compatible and work best on an Asus (model P7P55D-E Pro) motherboard with Ubuntu 10.10 installed? I tried installing an older US Robotics modem but had no luck.

http://linuxhcl.com/browse/search+modems?category=36

Not a lot listed there, I suggest you buy from companies providing linux as an option in their systems. They may be able to advise which work well.

I used a TRENDnet TFM-560X modem until I got high speed internet.

This TRENDnet TFM-560X looks like what I need.
Did you use it on Ubuntu 10.10?
Is there any installing involved? (drivers or otherwise)
Thankyou

It has been some time ago, (Fawn) I believe. Very newbe then. Do not remember any problems. At that time, I would not have known how to install drivers in Ubuntu. On the box, under supported OS, Linux is listed. TRENDnet support (310) 626-6252. Also TRENDware International's phone number is (310) 891-1100. At that time, biggest problem, was finding ISP for Linux. Good luck.
