HP DM4-1165DX Wireless connectivity
I'm sure I'm overlooking something obvious, but I cannot connect my new HP DM4-1165DX in Ubuntu 10.10 to a functioning wireless network. When I use boot from a flash drive it will connect successfully, but when I boot from the hard drive (of a dual-boot system) it does not work. Sometimes in Windows the F12(wireless) button has to be "toggled", but the toggle doesn't initiate the wireless card in 10.10.
Thanks!

Hi,
Please first connect your network card to the wireless router using an ethernet cable (also known as a LAN cable).
In order to gather essential troubleshooting information about your wireless card, please follow this procedure AFTER booting from the harddisk (NOT the flash drive):
Step 1: Open Terminal from "Applications-
Step 2: Please copy-paste the following command from the https:/
Tip: If you have a wheel mouse or 3 button mouse you do not need to type commands into the Terminal. Highlight the command written on the page. Move your cursor anywhere in the Terminal and press the wheel or middle button. Automatic Copy and paste! No spelling mistakes! No Typos! No other errors!
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install hwinfo grep; sudo lshw -C network; rfkill list; sudo iwlist scanning; cat /etc/network/
Step 3: Please post results (copy/paste terminal output) on this thread. The troubleshooters here need to see the full Terminal output from running the above command.
Regards,
Mark

Whilst on the wired connection use:
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get --reinstall install linux-firmware
And you should be ok. Big hint was:
[ 9.923300] iwlagn 0000:02:00.0: firmware: requesting iwlwifi-
[ 9.930055] iwlagn 0000:02:00.0: iwlwifi-
Command:
dpkg -S iwlwifi-
yielded:
linux-firmware: /lib/firmware/
So running that command will give what you need to make it work.
