how to install linksys wrt54g to desktop

Desktop has Ubuntu Only. I want to install a linksys wrt54g to desktop so I can be wireless with my laptop. I know you don't use the installation CD. So how do I do it I have cable modem for hi speed.

ok connect the device and run:

sudo lshw -C network; lsusb

Sounds like you want to turn your desktop into an access point for your laptop -- try LOAP. The Linksys software is linux and is open source, but is written for the specific hardware in the WRT54G, which is not the hardware you have in your desktop.
