wi-fi not working in ubuntu but working in windows 7

I have a dell studio 1558 laptop. It has ubuntu 10.04 LTS and windows 7(64-bit) in dual boot mode. The problem is that wi-fi does not function at all in ubuntu whereas in windows, it is working. I followed the wireless troubleshooting procedure by typing the diagnostic command at the following link:-

Also, I tried installing the wireless drivers from the CD that I got along with my laptop for windows using Ndiswrapper but it gives an error while installing and then says "invalid drivers". How do I get the wi-fi in my ubuntu to work?
