My ISP works only with Win. Can I run or access win from ubuntu?

Asked by Philip Blythe

I am running side x side Win7 & Ubantu on an Acer Aspire 5534 laptop. Can I run both OSs @ the same time. Can I access Programs & Documents from one to the other and can I communicate between the two?

11/30/10--The most important thing I need to know is whether or not I can configure my laptop so that I can access my T-mobile ISP (which requires win7) from Ubantu. Can I connect to the internet from Ubantu?

Yes you can dual boot. If you use the Win7 partition resizer (after ensuring your backups are sufficiently recent), you can make free space to install Ubuntu to. Ubuntu can access NTFS fully, however Windows is unable to access the file system of Ubuntu despite the definitions of the file system be fully accessible. Windows can only access ext2 and ext3 using a 3rd party app at http://www.fs-driver.org but ext4 gives a smoother OS.

You will not be able to run the apps from the Windows OS in Ubuntu, however if you use a virtualbox, you can actually boot the Windows OS in a virtualbox. Games and such will either not run at all or run VERY badly.

Can you help with this problem?
