No wi-fi connection does appear
I have the ubuntu 10.04 LTS ubuntu. So I decided to upgrade the ubuntu to 10.10 FINAL. It was everthing all right after I upgrade, so I decided to use the internet wireless, but I can't! The ubuntu after I upgrade was not able to conect to the wireless, as I usually conect before on 10.04 LTS ubuntu. I'll be glad, if you fix as earlier as you can. And I want to tell you another think: I have a problem with the install of a plug-in at firefox (the version of silverlight for Ubuntu), could you solve these problems for me and the other users? Thanks.

Connect to Internet using a wired connection and go to System -> Administration -> Additional drivers.
If that does not help, also while connected using a wire, install from software center a package called ndis (search for ndis).
Meanwhile, try to find out the exact model of your wifi card so you can search on google how to make it work in Ubuntu.

Hi,
Please first connect your network card to the wireless router using an ethernet cable (also known as a LAN cable).
In order to gather essential troubleshooting information about your wireless card, please follow this procedure:
Step 1: Open Terminal from "Applications-
Step 2: Please copy-paste the following command from the https:/
Tip: If you have a wheel mouse or 3 button mouse you do not need to type commands into the Terminal. Highlight the command written on the page. Move your cursor anywhere in the Terminal and press the wheel or middle button. Automatic Copy and paste! No spelling mistakes! No Typos! No other errors!
sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get install hwinfo grep; sudo lshw -C network; rfkill list; sudo iwlist scanning; cat /etc/network/
Step 3: Please post results (copy/paste terminal output) on this thread. The troubleshooters here need to see the full Terminal output from running the above command.
Step 4: Please also specify the exact model and make of your PC (if known) on this thread
Regards,
Mark

Hello Mark,
I am facing a similar problem with my system. Ubuntu does not connect to my office wi-fi. It detects it under Hidden Wireless Network. It keeps asking me for the password, and I keep pressing Connect whenever it prompts me, but after 5-6 times, it stops connecting.
It is able to detect other wi-fi networks in the area. Sometimes, it has been able to connect to my office wi-fi after repeated connection attempts under Hidden Wireless Networks. On 1-2 days, it has connected to the office wi-fi automatically.
I run Ubuntu 12.04 LTS on an ASUS EEE PC 1015 CX.
On the Ubuntu page, my ASUS model's hardware has not been certified - it has only been certified if already provided by the manufacturer. I had installed Ubuntu via a pendrive.
When I ran the command you mentioned on the terminal, after running many numbers and letters down the screen, it asked me if I wanted to continue (exactly what it asked, I forget). When I said yes, it opened Update Manager with 24 updates related to firefox. I installed all of them.
This is what the terminal said -
