The CD you have is for Windows, Ubuntu is not Windows so it is of no use to you

Can you give the output of:

lsusb

Thanks

If you have used your wireless (usb?) device successfully in a Windows machine, via VZAccess_Manager.exe, it should have been "activated", and may be used under Ubuntu by using Network_Manager. The Network manager icon looks like a pie slice made up of arcs, and if you right click on it, select "edit connections". then Select the "Mobile Broadband" tab, and enter a few items like country, Verizon, etc. Network manager should dial and connect up. Next time, your verizon connection should appear in the list of connections to click on. when you left click on the network manager icon.
I'm not sure what the Windows activation does, maybe not much other than the phone number to dial (#777 I think).
