Configuring Netgear wireless adapter for Ubuntu 10.10
In trying to use Windows Wireless tool to load driver, the system does not recognize the autorun. inf file as a valid driver, and I can't locate any other inf. file on the Netgear Windows CD.
This link on sourceforge http://
Can anyone recommend a wireless setup that is compatible?

Can you have the device unplugeed and reboot and log in.
Then run:
sudo lsusb
plug in the device, wait 10 seconds then run:
echo; lsusb; echo; sudo lshw -C network
Copy all the output and provide it as an update
Thanks

I'm willing to buy another USB adapter or card if you have a better product to recommend.

if you install ndisgtk then run:
gksudo ndisgtk
and give it the .inf and .sys files for the windows driver, if your OS is 32bit then use the XP driver, if it is 64bit then use the 64bit Vista driver.

Same problem, I get an error while installing, and then tells me the autorun inf. file is invalid. Here is a link to some screenshots.

I really appreciate the assistance!

The file will be in the bin folder. The file to use is not autorun.inf all that file does is tell the OS what to do when the CD is onserted if autorun is enabled. It is NOT a driver file

You'll need to use cabextract to extract the setup.exe file. Some people report the extraction working ok with wine :)

The Netgear wizard opened up after awhile, but can not recognize the adapter. Trying a Belkin adapter now, but can't mark the files as executable using Wine, so not able to install from CD. It was suggested on another wireless post that I run this command, and here are results.
