Possible to use on network without internet?

Asked by Ann Marie Brainard

I need a clear answer: Is it possible to use Ubuntu on a peer to peer network (No server) that will never have an internet connection and how? I have a dial-up at another site, however and can use the "sneaker net" to transfer files.

Depends on what you want to do. You can certainly install it. If you want to download packages by sneaker-net you can, and you may want to look at something called "keyrx" -- I have not used it myself however

there are several methods one is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LAN_messenger
another which i think is better is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personal_area_network
either of these should work for you. Good luck.
