conexant hsf cx11252

Asked by Ken

Greetings.

I have installed Ubuntu 10.01 on a friends i386 (i486?) desktop but cannot get his dial up modem to work. The modem has a conexant hdf cx11252 chip and I followed the instructions after downloading hsfmodem-7.80.02.03full Jaunty.tar.bz2. (I was kinda hoping the thing would not notice that I was running 10.01!) I ran "sudo make install" and "sudo /usr/sbin/hsfconfig" as instructed and found the following in the log....

Your help will be hugely appreciated but please keep it as simple as possible - this problem and I should not be in the same room together! Thank you!

There is no 10.01, there is 10.10 (Maverick) and 10.04 (Lucid)

Can you give the output of:

lsusb; lspci

Thanks

Sorry about that - a typo! Lucid - 10.04.

I found those 2 files in /usr/bin but I have no idea how to open them.

they are binarys, you run the command I gave in a terminal, then give the output here.

Thanks

I've been there but it was not helpful at all. It gave me the results I originally posted. The computer I'm working on is going back to Windoze - the owner is having serious withdrawal symptoms.

Thank you for your efforts.

Cheers.

Ken.

Just in case it is useful for anybody else: for Maverick (10.10) this case is commented on http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=10100007#post10100007
