[Kubuntu Maverick] How can I edit the "Auto eth0" in the NetworkManager applet?

Asked by Uqbar

With left-click on the Networkmanager applet I can see the "Auto eth0" connection profile.
With right-click on the same icon I cannot see how to edit it.
How can I edit it?

Have you tried it yourself?
There's nothing to edit on the wired tab.

Yes, works here just fine. Are you using the /etc/network/interfaces file to define the connection??

I'm only using the applet. No hand-editing. And I got this from a clean Kubuntu 10.10 installation process (with netwotk updated during installation).

Which KDE are you using? kdesu is not part of v4.5.1 which is shipped with 10.10.

And knetwork-manager is not there any more as well.

@marcobra Do you mean I need a component from GNOME in order to have a working KDE environment?

Try installing wicd. wicd is DE independant and should work great

Do you mean that KDE cannot do that on its own?
Does wicd support wallet for my 20+ WiFi settings and keys?
Thanks so far.

No, it doesn't. It's a gtk application.
But do you actually test the suggestions you give?

Thanks actionparsnip, that solved my question.

Anyway, it's a shame that I need a gtk application to have a basic feature in KDE!

Wicd isn't a TK app, It's completely DE independent and will install the same amount of packages in any desktop which is it's beauty :)

The problem is *only* in the KDE applet.
In GNOME everything works flawlessly.
I'll open a bug on this
