cannot connect to wireless network on HP 2133 with 10.4

Asked by Brian Kimber

I have an HP 2133 netbook with 10.04 loaded. Everything works great except that I cannot connect to my wireless network. I have an apple airport express wireless router that uses WPA WPA2, a frequency of 2.4 GHz, and standards: 802.11 DSSS 1 and 2 Mbps standard, 802.11b and 802.11g. My computer searches for and finds the network and asks for verification. When I enter my password the connection is not made. My computer has a broadcom BCM 4312 802.1b/g (rev 01) and broadcom NetXtreme BCM 5788 Gigabit ethernet controller. I am not Ubuntu literate so please be patient with me.

I suggest you use the wired connection to get fully updated. This can help greatly. Note that not all wireless devices can connect to WPA security, I suggest you try using WEP to see if the security is causing the issue.

Can you help with this problem?
