Wireless connection is very slow in ubunto download speed 2kb/s
While in windows 7 (dual boot) is over 100kb/s without changing anything (same laptop position, same wireless network, everything is the same.

The OS is called UBUNTU 9pronounced OO-BOON-TOO), Not Ubunto:

Can you give the output of:

sudo lshw -C network

Windows has different support so speed may vary but 2kb/s is pretty poor.

I installed the compat-wireless-2.6.tar.bz2. Though my internet speed returned to normal I frequently get crashes with blank screen ( cannot type anything on it).

This happened after i installed the driver.

Can you help with this problem?
