No wireles on 10.10 (nor on 10.04)

Asked by Morten Juhl Hansen on 2010-10-13

Hi there
I have a problem with my HP dv6 2050eo after upgrading from 9.10 to 10.04 and then to 10.10. The network manager doesn't show the available wireless networks in 10.04 and 10.10.
If I boot up in windows or on a live cd with 9.10 (and when I had the 9.10 working) the networks are visible and available.

I have this info from the 10.10 with the ethernet working.

morten@morten-laptop:~$ sudo lshw -C network; rfkill list; sudo iwlist scanning; cat /etc/network/interfaces; cat /etc/lsb-release; lspci -nn; lsusb; sudo lshw -short; uname -a; dmesg | grep ound; dmesg | grep irmware ; dmesg | grep ipw; dmesg | grep eth; dmesg | grep ath; dmesg | grep b43; dmesg | grep witch; iwconfig; grep b43 /etc/modprobe.d/*; grep wl /etc/modprobe.d/*; sudo hwinfo --netcard ; sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart

According to Synaptic the "linux-backports-modules-compat-wireless-2.6.34-2.6.32-25-generic" already is installed. So what do I do next to solve the problem?
