I was told that Sierra Wireless USB 308, can be used with Ubuntu 9.4, I just downloaded the 10.04 version, would it work with this new version??

Asked by carl

I have downloaded Ubuntu 10.04 on my laptop, the only provider that sell a USB modem that support Ubuntu 9.4 is the Sierra Wireless USB 308 is TELSTRA. I want to know if it will work with the new version 10.04 and what sort of configuration is required. Thanks

Don't know exactly this typ of USB Wireless. But --- with open-source if a thing is supported once - support is only extremely seldom dropped again. So don't be afraid. Normally everything works as soon as you plug it into your computer. And if a WLAN doesn't work you can always install ndiswrapper-gtk, copy the windows driver to any place on your local hard-drive - and tell ndiswrapper-gtk to use the windows driver instead of the linux one.

Practically all modems use the US Robotics protocol so there is no adjustments necessary. If you have ubuntu installed already, I'd suggest you turn it on and see for yourself if it works.

If you're calling the wireless internet adapter a modem, the best way is to try it out to see if it works.

Can you help with this problem?
