Ping a range of IP addresses

Asked by AngusBogus

I'm using the ping tool in nettools and want to ping a range of IP addresses, for instance 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.150 to produce a list of alive hosts. I'm sure it can be done, but I haven't figured it out.

I don't think gnome-nettool can be used as a wide range ip network scanner. Please refer to nmap.
