wireless network busts wlan router

Asked by Fabian Pache

Greetings,

the setup I am using is a Netgear Wlan router and DELL XPS M1330 internal wlan adapter. After being connected to the net on said setup my router stops working. More accurately put: the WEP dialog pops up again and the key is no longer being accepted. At the same time every other device loses connection to the router as well [2nd machine on XP, PS3, PSP, phone, etc] and ask for a new WEP key. The only way to remedy the problem is to unplug the router from power and power it back up again.
It is not a generic problem of the laptop hardware nuking the router, because Vista 64 works flawless on the same device (multiboot).
The problem usually does not occur while I am actually using the connection, surfing, downloading, working etc. but after idling for some time, the connection breaks down without any visible cause.

Any help taming my wireless connection is hugely appreciated, thanks

Thanks for the prompt reaction. Wired connection does not affect the network and is always disconnected while wlan is active

You may want to see if there is a new firmware for your router (update using a WIRED connection). You may also want to see if there is a method to getting a newer iwl3945 driver.

Can you help with this problem?
