sharing the internet between Laptops wireless without a wifi router

Asked by Mathew P George

ok ....

I've got my Linux run pc connected to the LAN and I want to share the internet to other laptop wireless.
Is there a way out to do this so I can avoid going for a Wifi-Router and save some cost. :)

Also the shared internet (if posible) can it be accessed from the Mob runs on Android which has Wifi connectivity ???

Thanks bro .... for that quick response

unfortunately I don't have 02 Ethernet ports in my laptop ... so I was thinking if there is a way to share the Internet between laptops using the Wifi network (again to to do that I don't have WIfi Router)...

It's like my Laptop is connected through the Ethernet and I could do the browsing in my system ..... I want to share the Internet access with my friend who often visits me. I'm not sure about it but if there is a way to share the Internet without using any wires that would be great.

Mathew,

Ok, now that's a bit more tricky and diffrent from what I initially though. The approach is called an Ad-Hoc network.

I've not tried this, but reading it though, it looks to be what your after.

Ad-Hoc Wireless-How-Too: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WifiDocs/WirelessAccessPoint

If that's not it, hit me in the head, as In not getting the question sunk in deep enough :-)
