Ubuntu 10.4 networking fails to show laptop in eth0

Eth0 is enabled,
LAN consists of Laptop, Desktop & 2 printers...
Network (File Browser) shows Desktop &
"Windows Network" \WORKGROUP\ print$ folders...
A password is required to connect...
The connect sequence refuses password...Any Ideas?

Had you tried inputting your valid username and password on the Ubuntu machine when prompted for authentication?
