Mobile phone Internet connection USB Sony C903
Trying to get a Sony Ericson C903 to make an Internet connection with the Three network here in the UK.
The phone is recognised in wammu/gammu so i can move things about - contacts etc. However its the internet connection that i really want and the only reason i have to keep a partition with windows on. Ive read loads of pages regarding how to connect phones to the internet but they either don't work (for me anyway) or are total gobledigook to me, being a new user - when they go on about recompiling the kernel etc im afraid i glaze over!
Couple of points:
1. Able to retrive the Vendor and Serial ID's for the phone:
david@mobeus:~$ lsusb
Bus 001 Device 007: ID 0fce:d11a Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications AB
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 1bcf:0007 Sunplus Innovation Technology Inc.
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
2. Then I created the file:
File: /etc/modprobe.
Contents:
alias usb:v22B8p2B24* usbserial
options usbserial vendor=0x22b8 product=0x2b24
3. Reboot
4. Var/log/messages shows up nothing when i plug the phone in. It apparently should detail the USB driver loaded for the phone
5. Used some instructions on http://
6. My computer is a MV Mobeus (a Customised AS Rock) - Pretty standard small laptop about 5 years old
7. Im running Ubuntu (latest version) studio edition
Any ideas anyone? If your kind enough to reply could you please reply in plain english as i dont currenty understand too much about how to configure linux.
