lagy dsl

Im having troble with my conection. Its cnfi is DCHP and that makes for a sloower speed. I trie to change it to direct IP I loose my conection.The other thing is that in Firefox some pages open an others dont! Is something els not conf right. Ubuntu6.6 AMD2500+ 1g ram nvidia 5200 128m internet DSL and router.

DHCP is just a way to handle the assignment of IP address, it shouldn't have any effect on your connection speed, your ISP's DNS could be at fault. Follow the instructions at http://www.opendns.com/ for your specific DSL modem and/or router.
