Usually, you do not need any additional software / cdrom to access and configure a wireless / wired router in Ubuntu (Linux). Ubuntu should support it out-of-the-box.

You need to launch Konqueror (browser) or Mozilla Firefox (browser) and then access the homepage of your router to start configuring it.

The router's homepage URL should be something like http://192.168.1.1

if 192.168.1.1 is the internal IP Address of the router. However, the IP address can vary, depending on the exact model and make of router you are using. Usually, 192.168.1.1 is the right one.

Hi :)

The Cd-Rom supplied with most hardware is for Windows users only. Almost invariably they do nothing to help Linux users and sometimes even try to harm a linux system (although any harm to a linux system is extremely rare). Our developers have managed to write better programs that usually cover more than one device and are often able to grow if you install extra-functionality.

Please avoid Windows programs and aim to use proper linux programs instead

Good luck and regards from
Tom :)

Hi again :)

When you post replies please either

1. Use the links to get to the Launchpad website where your question is a thread

or

2. Delete the email we send you off the bottom of you emailed response.

For us it is better if you could use the links to get to your thread in launchpad and when you do that you will find there are a lot of other useful resources here too.

Hopefully we can soon help you fix this. Mark's answer seems to be the one.
Thanks and regards from
Tom :))

@Chris: Please let us know if you were able to successfully configure your router using Mozilla Firefox (or any other webbrowser)

It now works. Thanks!
But the Mozilla will not load the plug-ins so sites such as MSN, Dell, etc will not show any pictures.
Help.

Your router question has been successfully answered. Please set this thread to status "solved" and create a separate question for your new Firefox issue using this link:

Hi Chris :))

Congrats for fixing your DLink problem there!! Welcome to linux-land, especially the ubuntu corner of it :)

Please can you use the links to visit the LaunchPad website rather than reply to the email. Then please can you click the "This solved the problem" button at the bottom of one of Mark's replies? This gives him good karma points inhere, not a huge reward but we like to see who is giving good answers so that more people can see what helps. Also it helps us keep the "Solved Answers Database" slightly more useful for people. You too get a few karma points for helping the community in that way too, it's worth doing.

Also you can then post a new separate question about the new issue.

Thanks and regards from
Tom :)

Hi Chris :)

Thanks for helping us with that. The link for creating a new question should be at the bottom of the thread but if it is missing here is another one you could use instead

Thanks and regards from
Tom :)
