Hello,
Thank you for your question.
Please check out this link https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats regarding how to play MP3 audio files and other Restricted Multimedia formats.

Hi Jayson,
I wanted to RECORD, not play...
And btw the link [WWW] http://medibuntu.sos-sts.com/repo/pool/. doesn't work. I also want to play DVDs which doesn't work either... :-(

Hello Frank,
I apologize for the misunderstanding, but I understand. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/RestrictedFormats will help you record to mp3 format as well as play DVDs. You need the codecs and libraries installed to support mp3 as well DVD playback. All of this is covered at the Restricted Formats wiki.

Jayson,
I still don't get it. I can now play MP3's and DVD's but how do I get it to record from Microphone to MP3. The dropdown doesn't have MP3.

Jason

In Feisty this is related with a known bug #84007 in gnome-media.
It affects also sound-juicer.

See https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-media/+bug/84007/comments/25

I mean, sound-juicer and sound-recorder are affected because they extract data about profiles from the same source.

Can you help with this problem?
