Please, in order for me to help you you will need to provide me some information:

1)What kind of sound card do you have, which chipset (if you don't know what it means, just let me know the card's brand)
2)What version of Ubuntu are you using, Warty, Hoary, or the in development breezy release.
3) any other information or attempts you've made to solve this.

Please look also at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems

To open a terminal (Hoary and Warty) where you can type the commands press Applications -> System Tools -> Terminal

Yes, this will be difficult indeed to do if, in no particular order,

 * You don't have any soundfiles to play
 * You don't have sound support at all
 * You didn't turn up the volume at maximum

It would be *extremely* helpful for us to help you provided us with a lot more information, like what type/model of computer you have, what version of Ubuntu you are using, and any other relevant information that you think will be of additional help.

Since it has been a year, and he never did provide any of the additional information requested, maybe a suggestion is that he responds within the next month, or we reject the ticket on the very likely assumption that he has long gone away and forgotten about it.

Maybe.

I am trying to clear out some of this old stuff. If the person is still having problems, as a volunteer representative of the Ubuntu community, I want to let him know that we are happy to work with him to resolve the issue if possible.

If we do want to enact your suggestion, it might be able to log a feature request with the launchpad developers to see if they could put a timer based rejection where the reject could be scheduled to automatically happen in the future. Make sure that such an action requires a comment and so forth. I think this would help, given your scenario, to keep the effort in maintaining that down.

I think the timer could be "reset" if there is actually interaction from the original poster again. If it has long been abandoned by them, then thats when it should expire.

I'm also facing the same issue. however, I read some solutions here https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/691155 I have tried the same technique at https://watertechguide.com/

Can you help with this problem?
