Download this file:
http://dl.google.com/earth/client/ge4/release_4_3/googleearth-linux-plus-4.3.7284.3916.bin
and save it in your home directory.

Then open a terminal and type the following commands:
chmod 755 googleearth-linux-plus-4.3.7284.3916.bin
sudo ./googleearth-linux-plus-4.3.7284.3916.bin

At least 3 weeks Google Earth did not run unmodified on my Intrepid machine (I have not checked whether google has provided a corrected package in the meantime).

Installation worked fine for me, but it crashed when trying to start it.

See my comment in https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/60335 how I solved it.

Take care. I've 8.04 and if I start Googleearth, it's going to shut down my system.

Can you help with this problem?
