How do change the popup volume meter to 6.10 version?

Asked by sumgi

When using the builtin volume controls on my laptop a volume meter pops up, in edgy this was a small bar that was very unobtrusive. Now that I have installed feisty the popup volume meter is a large(1/6th screen) icon of a speaker with a bar in the lower half. How can I change this popup volume meter so that it uses the edgy version?

I have learned that the volume meter was changed when I had temporarily enabled desktop effects. After disabling desktop effects I needed to reboot my laptop in order for the old volume meter show up again.

zeeshan you will need to make sure to backup anything you don't want to loose, this is always the case when making major changes to your hard disk partitions. You can use the information on this link, https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WindowsDualBoot. Notice step number two requires you use the Windows disk defragmentation tool but it doesn't go into detail, you may need to repeat step two multiple times because the point of this task is to reposition all data so that it is in one part of the disk and to limit the possibility that you will loose data when your partition is resized in step 7. Notice that you will be making two new partitions, a small one for swap and a larger one for the installation. Feel free to ask more questions.
