no sound capture

Asked by markling

Hello

Sound capture has stopped working.

Ubuntu 8.04

I used sound capture with no problems in June.

Before attempting sound capture today, I installed the Mplayer plugin for Firefox. I am trying to capture from streaming web signal. The streaming audio plays through the speaker, but is silent on the captured recording.

Sound preferences: all audio tests worlk apart from the sound capture test. Changing the sound capture setting makes no difference - it is currently set to ALSA.

Please help - need to record British hacker Gary McKinnon - he's doing an interview on Glastonbury Radio tonight at 9pm (I have only 3 hours to solve this problem!)

cheers

markling

For recording streaming audio, I recommend VLC. VLC can be set up to save streaming media to disk directly (without taking a round-trip to the sound card).

Can you help with this problem?
