I have a HP dv6700 laptop with Ubuntu 7.10. When I plug in headphones my speakers don't turn off.

I have tried modifying alsa-base. I have also tried installing the most recent version (1.0.16) and messing with ALSA in terminal. No luck yet, would really appreciate help.

Download latest alsa drivers, build and install it. It helped me with my Benq R42.
