No sound on the front -plugs of labtop ACER 5220

I m using ACER 5220 with Ubuntu 7.10
Sound from Systemspeakers is ok but no sound on the Head-phone plug at the front of the Labtop.
Mike IN does not work either .

I added: "options snd-hda-intel model=acer" in the "alsa-base " at "modprobe.d " in the "etc"- folder

NO CHANGE

I would expect more sliders on the ALSA MIXER but only MASTER and PCM ist there.

I installed LINUX-BACKPORTS-MODULES resulting in NO SOUND at all,.
So I removed this change again but still no Sound on the frontside plug.

need advise

I have the Acer Aspire 3680. To make my sound work on LinuxMint I did what you did, but had to use "model=toshiba". "Model=acer" did not work for me either.

 I used model=toshiba with no effekt at all . So still the same problem.
