playing dvds on ubuntu 10.04

With the help of folks in the ubuntu community, I installed libdvdcss2 on my ubuntu 11.10, using the terminal. I'm having the same problem with version 10.04. Playing through Movie Player, the result is that the video is jerky, poorly colored, and without sound. What am I doing wrong?

David K. here again - sorry to waste your time. I figured out what I did wrong: I used Movie Player instead of VLC Player. VLC Player works fine. Thanks for your help and patience.
