Asked by Gerald Anderson

I am very new at Ubuntu and one of the first problems I encountered was I could not download the software to stream Netflix with my OS. What can I do?

From what I know (which admittedly isn't a great deal), it's not possible to stream Netflix movies in the Linux environment. However, if you have a copy of a Windows or Mac operating system, you can use a 'virtualization software package' such as Virtual Box to run that OS in a virtual environment from within Ubuntu. Though there are other options, I've used Virtual Box, and found it pretty straightforward.

You can download it here: https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Linux_Downloads
and since it's a .deb package, installation should be pretty easy.

Once it's installed, you can follow the directions to install the Netflix-approved OS as a virtual machine and get your movie fix that way.

Good luck.

since netflix started using DRM, you can't stream anything on linux. i read that they're planning to support linux, but it's not a high priority for them, so you'd have to wait a year or more for them to come out with something.

Can you help with this problem?
