Item properties does not supply audio or video information

When I right click on an audio or video file, the properties screen is missing the right-most tab which normally lists audio/video properties. Have I deleted or failed to install something that might have caused this?

I'm the only user. Also, I have a laptop using the same version (10.04LTS) and it HAS the audio/video tab present on item properties.

Success! Clutching at straws, I installed something called "ubuntu-restricted-extras" and my audio/video tab reappeared after a reboot! Go figure.
