voice recording continuous recording?

Asked by Timothy Marshall

I have a dell multiplex210 and the Logitech microphone won't work, and although my "Creative" microphone does I can't get the recorder to continue a recording it only replaces it. I want to start and stop a long recording to edit as I go is this possible? Or must i just let the thing run and edit later, an unpractical option for my needs since I'm am recording a 1.5 hour reading that alternated between Hebrew and English. I want to use this recording to do sleep learning of my daily Hebrew reading as a tool for helping me learn the language. Thanks so much for the help.

If you are doing audio recording, I would recommend trying the "audacity" program, which supports mulit-track and advanced manipulation of the input waveform (cut paste/ silence suppression etc).

Mycae,
I installed "Audacity" as you recommended but have the same problem. I just want to push the record after stopping and continue the recording so I can take breaks. It doesn't seem to want to let me do that either. Can you tell me how to do that?
                          Thanks, Timothy.

It works for me. I press "record", then i press "pause" then I press "pause" again when I want to continue. If you press the "stop" button, it will start again from the beginning, unless you drag the time position cursor to a new location.
