i cant get sound from my laptop help me

its been 3days that i couldnt get sound from my laptop. ive been trying to fix it like the volume control but theere wasnt a problem with the settings. i tried to use my headphones but i could barely hear it.pls help me to fix it

try:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ricotz/unstable; sudo apt-get update; sudo apt-get upgrade; cd ~; killall pulseaudio; rm -r .pulse*

Then press ALT+F2, type:

pulseaudio

Press ENTER. May help

Also run:
alsamixer

if it doesn't help and make sure no channels are muted and all sliders are cranked. Also do the same in the gnome volume manager thing.

Also if there is a mute button or a little wheel on the system, try that too.
