No sound from Rhythmbox

No sound from Rhythmbox. Master volume is set to 100%. Rhythmbox volume set to highest setting. I have Soundblaster card. On board sound is disabled. Alsa Mixer sliders are set to hih. What else can I do?

Do you have sound anywhere else? (movie, internet flash movie...)

No sound from any Ubuntu programs. Soundjuicer or Movie Player. Sound is OK on Windows XP Home.

I have sound on Ubuntu shutdown/restart.

I have 2 speakers attached to my screen. After installing Ubuntu I don't have any sound either but I need to change my output source (in the sound preferences dialog) to Analog/Front.
Maybe you need to do something similar?

Otherwise I suggest taking a look at the Ubuntu forums (http://www.ubuntuforums.org). I know there are some threads concerning sound issues.
I hope one of them can help you any further.

thanks jenson sommers.i changed to via 8237 (alsa mixer) in sound prefrences and rhythmbox works great.
