Installing a New DVD will I have to download the restricted codes again for the new drive?

Asked by griffoso

I have a DVD Drive running fine on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS . I plan on removing that drive and adding a DVD-burner . Will I have to re-download the restricted codes that allowed my old dvd to work or will the same code work for all future drives?

marcobra, you said "no"? What do you suggest as a fix or update (package or code) that I can use to achieve good results for what I asked?

You ask:

"Will I have to re-download the restricted codes that allowed my old dvd to work or will the same code work for all future drives?"

no, you don't need to reinstall already installed software and codecs

You only have to reload when you change of Ubuntu version, like updating from Karmic 9.10 to Lucid 10.04.
Could you mark this question as solved ?
