Can you please provide the output of:

sudo dpkg --configure -a; sudo apt-get update

Hi :)

Please open a command-line
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UsingTheTerminal#Starting%20a%20Terminal
and type in (or copy&paste with the mouse)

sudo dpkg --configure -a

it will ask for your normal user password, not your SuperUser/Root one and it wont give you any stars while you type.
