New to Xubuntu from XP... Questions about navigating the OP Sys.

Asked by Wes Urry

I have queries about

Changing the apearance and font size so it is easy to see. Example: for some applications the fonts are white on a light grey background.

Typing in Passwords for (The passwords are not displayed in the field)

Navigating the derectories. Can I navigate my derecories using a tree gui or do I need to learn LYNIX-UNIX commands like DOS commands?

If you use gksudo you will get feedback as you type your password. Hiding the inputting of passwords is great for security as it hides the length.

If you want to change font face and size:

If you are using Ubuntu 12.04 you can enable tree view under the view menu at the top.

I suggest installing krusader (= file manager GUI) which is an Ubuntu package that is available in the default Ubuntu repositories.

I also suggest reading these guides:

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/RootSudo

Can you help with this problem?
