How do I format a usb flash drive from within ubuntu?

Asked by Adrian Hume (UK)

Hi, got a USb flash drive that I loaded Googles chromeos onto as a bootable from flash drive os, but now want to reformat it so it's recognizable in windows xp as a normal flash drive but windows doesn't even see the drive now. Ubuntu does when I plug it in, so is there any way to format it with say ntfs or fat from within ubuntu?

many thanks

System-Administration->Disk Utility

From there you are able to delete the old partition and create a new one.
