Are you wanting to wipe out Ubuntu and install Windows? Is this the goal?
I suggest you format anything to NTFS in Windows. NTFS is proprietary to Microsoft so only they know exactly how it works.

yes sir, I've tried doing what you suggest quite a lot of times but keep
getting error message that drive is mounted, try un-mount only to get
another err; All my small partitions are now ntfs but my 500 GB drive
simply won't unmount or format to any form, have tried to format to other
forms without any joy. Just don't know what else I can try. Any thing else
I might do?

If you want only Windows then the Windows installer can do it's own partitioning and formatting. I suggest you post on a Windows forum.

Thanks for trying to help. The windows disks don't read or do anything.
Ubuntu loads eveytime.
I'll leave it before the laptop hits a wall.
Thank-you.

Yes sir can't find any way to get back to windows, I'm reasonably competent
at this but every thing I try is thwarted, think I might have caught a cold.

Again, not an Ubuntu issue. A Windows forum will help
