Unable to stop drive

Asked by Edmond Condillac

Hi

I had to shut down the computer after failure to boot and disconnected the external drive before rebooting to the live cd. When I rebooted one of the three external drive partitions did not show up on the desktop. Is there any way to re-access the lost partition, please?

After right clicking the remaining partitions' icons for the external USB drive and clicking on Safely remove drive the error message displays: Unable to stop drive; volumes on medium busy.

Kindly help with this problem, please.

Gratefully yours

Hi,

have you considered to upgrade to a supported release of Ubuntu ?

10.10 is EOL and not supported anymore . Please try another version , like 12.04 or 12.10 , contains newer packages (e.g. Disk Utility) .

Thanks
