how do I install lubuntu with a usb modem as the internet access?

Asked by Jessie

I'm trying to install Lubuntu 11.04 on my Asus EeePC 901 from a LiveUSB created on an Ubuntu 11.04 desktop, while using a USB modem since I have no land line. My modem shows the blue light that says the 3G internet is there but during the OS installation, there doesn't seem to be a way to point it to the modem.

In consequence, my installation seems to be failing claiming the Software Package Manager can't be installed. Nor can the boot loader .. Help!

You can install it offline using the installation ISO. You can but it on a USB using unetbootin and you won't need 3G to install, you won't need any network connectivity as all the data needed will be on the USB stick (or use an SD card if you want).

Can you help with this problem?
