Hi sidharth,

gparted is a ubuntu tool to format a disk: http://gparted.sourceforge.net/

To install it on Ubuntu try:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade
sudo apt-get install gparted

After you will find a relative icon on Unity 3d/2d or Gnome, the tool is like "partition magic" for win. Let me know.

Those are terminal commands. Copy them one line at a time and paste into the terminal. You can launch one easily by pressing CTRL+ALT+T
